How big of a sign can I have?
All cities and counties have different code restrictions by zone or address. You can call your local planning department or have Sign Methods, Inc. (SMI) do the code research for you.
What makes a good sign or display?
Keep it simple. Working within the design elements of the project, good contrasting colors between the copy and the background, a simple message: seven words or less and make sure it’s legible with simple bold typestyles.
Should I use a logo in my image or sign?
Yes, when done correctly a logo is a great image enhancement and provides product recognition. For instance, everyone knows who the Golden Arches are.
How do I start to design my sign or display?
SMI has designers in house to help you with your design needs, from a simple wall sign to a complete sign program for national chains and site development.
How do I get a quotation from SMI?
Please contact one of our sales staff - we will be happy to work up a quotation at any time.
How do I acquire city approvals and permits?
SMI staff will acquire all necessary city approvals and permits on your behalf.
How long will it take to acquire permits?
It all depends on the city issuing the permit, some cities issue permits that day (over the counter) others take 3 to 4 weeks.
How long will the job take to be completed?
Depending on the size and kind of the job, most orders are fabricated in 4 to 6 weeks. If you need an item sooner please consult your salesperson, we often can move our production schedules around to accommodate your needs.
Who installs my sign?
SMI has Experienced installation crews to install all interior displays and exterior signs, everything from 100’ tall pylon sign to simple wall graphics.
What licenses, insurance and safety practices does SMI hold?
Sign Methods, Inc. is a California C-45 Sign Contractor, bonded and insured up to 3 million dollars, we have in-house safety programs for both the fabrication plant and field installations.
